Study Academy Vienna’s MID-IB Summer Courses in Vienna help students consolidate first-year IB knowledge, strengthen difficult topics, close knowledge gaps, and move ahead with selected Year 2 material.

The MID-IB Summer Experience in Vienna

Students study at Schloss Miller-Aichholz in Vienna, surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland where focused IB study and summer life come together. Between lessons, students can relax, spend time outdoors, and meet IB students from international schools around the world.

How Our MID-IB Summer Courses (On-Ground) Work

Students can choose 1–6 MID-IB subjects at Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL), depending on where they need the most academic support and which subjects they would like to strengthen before beginning their final IB year.

Each subject is taught intensively for approximately 16–18 hours, including guided homework. Students concentrate on one subject at a time rather than dividing their attention between several subjects each day. This focused MID-IB course structure allows students to revise important Year 1 content, explore difficult topics in greater depth and move ahead with selected Year 2 material before progressing to their next subject.

Our MID-IB Summer Courses combine structured IB subject teaching with interactive lessons, exam-style application and individual guidance from experienced IB teachers.

Beyond the Scheduled Lessons

Residential students stay at Hotel Europahaus Wien on the same campus as Schloss Miller-Aichholz, surrounded by a large, protected private park. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and refreshments, 24/7 pastoral care and optional airport transfers are available throughout their stay. On the first day, students join a Vienna trip where they can meet and get to know each other. After lessons, organised activities are offered, while students can also choose to spend their free time visiting Vienna city centre.

From MID-IB at Study Academy Vienna to a Stronger Final IB Year

One of the biggest advantages of MID-IB summer preparation is that students can return to school already ahead with important academic work rather than beginning Year 2 under immediate pressure.

Our experienced IB teachers help students strengthen first-year knowledge while introducing selected Year 2 topics and showing students how to approach IB questions, assessment requirements and exam techniques more effectively. Students can also use the summer to make meaningful progress with their IA, EE and TOK work before major school deadlines begin to accumulate.

Students therefore return to school already familiar with upcoming material, more organised and better prepared for their final IB year. Instead of spending the first months trying to catch up, they can build on the knowledge and skills developed during their MID-IB Summer Course and approach their final year with greater confidence and a clearer academic direction.

Payment Information

A €500 non-refundable deposit is required after the application has been accepted to confirm the student’s place. The remaining balance is due 60 days before the course begins. For registrations made within 60 days, the full course fee is due after acceptance.

Payment is made by bank transfer, with payment details provided directly after registration. The bank account is held by the Founder & Owner of Study Academy Vienna and is the official account used for all Study Academy Vienna course payments and registrations.

Once the deposit has been received, students receive written confirmation of their registration and confirmed place. Before the course, students and parents receive the individual course timetable, arrival information, accommodation details (where applicable), and all final course information needed to prepare for their course and stay in Vienna.

Accommodation Information

Residential fees are based on shared-room accommodation. The number of nights shown is approximate, and 1–3 additional nights may be required depending on the student’s timetable, as lessons also run on weekends. Fees include 3-star hotel accommodation with en-suite facilities, breakfast, lunch, snacks, refreshments and 24/7 pastoral care. Single rooms are available at an additional cost, subject to availability.

Medical Insurance

Residential students must have valid medical insurance for the duration of their stay in Vienna. EU students may use a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC); non-EU students require appropriate private medical insurance.

Students return to school with stronger Year 1 knowledge, already familiar with selected Year 2 topics and more confident about the final IB year.

Yes. Moving ahead with selected Year 2 IB topics is an important part of our MID-IB Summer Courses and is highly recommended. Becoming familiar with upcoming material gives students an academic head start and makes new topics easier to understand when they encounter them again at school.

This can reduce pressure during the final IB year and allow students to focus more effectively on coursework and exam preparation.

The final IB year can become very demanding because subject work, IAs, the Extended Essay, TOK, mock exams and final IB exam preparation often overlap.

At Study Academy Vienna, students use the summer to strengthen difficult subjects, move ahead academically and make progress on important IB coursework. They return to school more organised, better prepared and with a clearer understanding of what they need to achieve.

Yes. MID-IB students can receive additional academic support with their Internal Assessments, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge alongside their subject courses.

Our experienced IB teachers and IB examiners provide guidance on research, structure, analysis, academic writing and IB assessment expectations while ensuring the work remains the student’s own. Face-to-face Extended Essay support can also be added to the MID-IB summer programme.

After lessons, students can attend additional subject courses, receive optional private tuition or IA, EE and TOK support, study independently, join organised activities or simply relax.
